What is... MyPPL ?

MyPPL is a new tool that makes it easier for you to use books and articles in the Peace Palace Library. After a quick and simple registration, you will be given your own set of 'bookshelves' so to speak, on which you can put materials of your choice from the library. Of course, this service is free.
Think of making a list of useful works, for example things you need for a paper; books you would always like to read but want to save for later; or articles you need to copy next time you are visiting us; or... anything else you can think of!

  • add your own tags or keywords to books and articles of your choice
  • organize your stuff on 'shelves'
  • when working on something, put all materials together
  • download lists to create bibliographies
  • share your thoughts on books or articles, write reviews or comments
  • view other people's shelves
After registration and logging in, you will see a standard book on your standard shelf General. You can't change this shelf's name (or delete it), but you can make other shelves. Then, go to our catalogue or use our website to find interesting things, and start adding it to your shelves. Click the plinklet-button anywhere to see a 'add to my shelf'-button, which adds the book to your shelf automatically.

Don't like the shelfname general? Make a new shelf by clicking the button new shelf in your general shelf. Think up a name and you are up and running. Move books from your general-shelf to any of your other shelves. It is as easy as that.

After putting books or articles onto your shelf, you can add your own tags and comments. Or write a review. You are not alone, many others are using this service. You can see what they like, too; see if they have similar lists or interests - you could even get in touch. Make as many new shelves as you want, to put on things that you like. You can move your stuff back and forth on your shelves, as you see fit. Plus you can download your shelves to a list, easy for printing or downloading.

Your shelves will stay in place: they will not be thrown away. On the same computer, you will remain logged in for two weeks, just log in again after that. Your shelves will stay there, even if you don't log in for a while. Your stuff stays on your shelves. Period. As long as you like. Forgot your password? Just tell us and we will email it back to you.

Tired of a book? Or misplaced one? Delete what you like. You can even delete a whole shelf. After deleting, it will go to the trash and stay there. You can always retrieve them later on by clicking the undelete button there. Don't worry!
